Sony has announced two new budget segment smartphones exclusively for India, called Xperia R1 and Xperia R1 Plus. These two smartphones have the compact form factor and Sony says that is “designed for Indian lifestyle”. The Sony Xperia R1 and R1 Plus almost identical except the RAM and storage options. Both these phones run on Android 7.1 Nougat and upgradable to Android 8.0 Oreo.

Both the smartphone comes with 5.2-inch (1280 x 720 px) HD 2.5D curved glass display. Under the hood, it has octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC clocked at up to 1.5 GHz with Adreno 505 GPU. Both these phones have the 13-Megapixel camera with Exmor Sensor, Hybrid AutoFocus and LED flash on the back and have 8-megapixel front-facing camera with Hybrid AutoFocus.
The Dual-Nano SIM smartphones run on Android 7.1 out of the box. They have even identical dimensions 146×73.2×8.89mm and weighs 154grams. The 2620mAH battery given to these smartphones and have USB type-C for charging and data syncing. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, GLONASS, FM Radio and 3.5mm audio jack.
The Sony Xperia R1 comes with 2GB and 16GB of storage and is priced at Rs. 12,990. Sony Xperia R1 Plus has 3GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage and is priced at Rs. 14,990. The storage can be expanded up to 128GB via Micro-SD card. Both these smartphones will be available in Indian market from November 10. The phones come in Black and Silver color options.
