Today, Asus India launched its first tango and daydream ready smartphone in India, the Asus Zenfone AR at price Rs. 49999. It will be available exclusively on Flipkart from 4 PM.
The smartphone first showcased at CES 2017, ZenFone AR is the world’s first Tango and Daydream-ready smartphone, with a mammoth 8GB of RAM.
Asus Zenfone AR is the next generation smartphone by Asus which has significant advancement in mobile augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) and technologies. The smartphone is developed in close cooperation with Google and Qualcomm so that it capable of delivering high-quality AR and VR experiences. ZenFone AR is the thinnest and lightest Tango-enabled device till now.
The smartphone can be paired with the Daydream View headset, ZenFone AR will be able to let users explore the new possibilities of VR cinema, and play games that put them at the center of the action. Additionally, users explore the new way of multitasking multi-window display and other enhancements that deliver a great mobile experience.
Asus ZenFone AR specifications
The smartphone features a 5.7-inch QHD (1440×2560 pixels) Super AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 on top and claims of over 100% support for NTSC color gamut. Under the hood, it has Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 Quad-Core SoC (two cores clocked at 2.34GHz and two core clocked at 1.6GHz) which are well optimized for Tango and Daydream VR performance.
The smartphone coupled with massive 8GB of LPDDR4 RAM with 128GB of inbuilt UFS 2.0 storage, further expandable via microSD card up to 2TB in a hybrid dual-SIM slot.
As we know, the camera is highlighted feature of Zenfone AR, comes with ASUS TriCam system consisting of three rear cameras — a motion-tracking camera, depth-sensing camera and high-resolution 23MP PixelMaster 3.0 camera — which provide input to Tango, enabling smartphone AR experiences for users. The motion-tracking camera lets ZenFone AR keep track of its location as it moves through three-dimensional space.
The 23MP camera features a Sony IMX318 with a f/2.0 aperture which supports 3-axis EIS for videos, 4-axis OIS for photos, and RAW file support. The company claims the TriCam system can focus as fast as 0.03 seconds. On the front, it has an 8-megapixel camera with a f/2.0 aperture, an 85-degree wide-angle lens, and dual-LED flash with HDR and real-time beautification modes.
ZenFone AR powered by a 3300mAh battery pack with Quick Charge 3.0 support, bundled with18W charger can enable 60% battery charge in only 20 mins.
As per connectivity it has 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, USB Type-C 2.0, Bluetooth v4.2GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Sensors include an accelerometer sensor, proximity sensor, gyroscope, ambient light sensor, barometer, digital compass and an infrared sensor.
